 How much does an appointment cost? The cost of the initial surgical consultation is $90 - plus the cost of a panoramic x-ray if a current one is not available. The total would be $150 - and is payable on the day of the appointment. Dr. Davis is happy to accept cash, personal cheques or VISA. Will NS Health Care or private insurance cover the cost of the consultation? Provincial Health Care does not cover the cost of the initial consultation but some private insurance policies will cover the cost at your "normal" rate. Will NS Health Care or my private insurance cover the cost of the surgery? Some of the procedures are covered by NS Health Care while others are covered by private insurance. There are certain procedures that are not covered by either type of insurance. Will Dr. Davis send a claim directly to my insurance? Yes, although we do not accept assignment of benefits, Rhonda would be more than happy to assist you by filling out the necessary forms so your insurance company will reimburse you. Can I go directly to the oral surgeon or do I need to be referred by a general dentist? Typically, a referral from your general dentist is required for consultation with an oral surgeon. Is the surgery performed in the office or in the hospital? Only the initial consultation is carried out here at Park Lane Dental Specialists. All procedures are performed at either QEII Health Sciences Centre or the IWK depending on the age of the patient. Certain procedures can be performed in the appropriate dental clinic while others will need to be completed in the operating room. Will I or can I be "put to sleep" during the procedure? This, as well as any other questions you might have can be addressed during your initial consultation. |
